A 14-Year Photographic Journey

Moments of Grace is the result of a remarkable fourteen-year journey dedicated to photographing the landscapes of Southern Africa. Throughout this period, Koos van der Lende travelled extensively across Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola and the island of Mauritius, patiently waiting for those rare moments when light, landscape, and atmosphere aligned.

Working exclusively on photographic film, Van der Lende pursued a level of clarity and tonal depth that reflects the quiet grandeur of the natural world. Each image in the book represents a carefully observed moment — landscapes shaped by time, silence, and the delicate balance of nature.

The publication opens to nearly one metre wide, allowing these panoramic landscapes to be experienced as they were originally envisioned. Every photograph featured in the book is also available as a fine art print.

The Artist — Koos van der Lende

Koos van der Lende devoted much of his photographic career to capturing the vast and often overlooked landscapes of Southern Africa. Working patiently with large-format panoramic compositions and traditional photographic film, he developed a body of work defined by precision, balance, and a deep respect for the natural environment.

Over many years of travel across Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Angola and Mauritius, Van der Lende created a collection of landscapes that reveal the quiet power and solitude of these regions. His images are known for their careful composition and extraordinary patience — often waiting days for the precise moment when light and atmosphere came together.

Today Van der Lende is regarded by many collectors as one of the most dedicated landscape photographers to emerge from Southern Africa. The Moments of Grace publication represents the culmination of this remarkable body of work.
